Consulting Services

Since 2004, I have been retained to provide consulting services to over 150 clients.    Clients include private developers, architects, land use planners, and private residents.  Public client list includes US Forest Service, Santa Barbara County, Cities of Goleta, Santa Barbara, and Carpinteria, Goleta Union School District, Santa Barbara School Districts, Isla Vista Recreation and Park District, La Cumbre Municipal Water District, and the Cachuma Operations and Maintenance Board.  Consulting Arborist approved by the Santa Barbara County Planning and Development Department.
Prior to my career in arboriculture, I served in local government from 1974 to 2000.   I began as an Urban and Regional Planner in Columbus Ohio and Virginia Beach Virginia.  I later moved into Public Administration positions as a Management Analyst for Clark County Nevada, Community Development Director for Henderson Nevada, City Manager of Brawley California,  Principal Administrative Analyst in the Santa Barbara County Administrator’s Office, and Project Manager in the Santa Barbara County Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office.  I retired from local government service in 2001 to work in the nonprofit sector.

Since 2001 I have also served as Executive Director of Goleta Valley Beautiful.  Goleta Valley Beautiful is a nonprofit 501 c3 environmental/educational organization with a primary mission to preserve and enhance the public forest of Goleta Valley.  I advise the 15 member Board of Directors in implementing the annual business plan.  My responsibilities include grant writing and implementation, volunteer development and support of 2000 annual volunteers, membership solicitation and outreach for 200 members, budgeting and financial accounting, special event development and coordination, public education and training programs as a Project Learning Tree Instructor, youth development projects and supervision of 50 interns annually, planting and maintenance of up to 500 trees annually in public areas, and supervision of 1000 nursery trees.
